A commitment to sustainable living through thoughtful design, responsible practices, and a deep respect for nature, community, and future generations.

Process of Making

Nachan the Antique Courtyard is located near the Mekong River in Chiang Khan, Loei. It is a life-time work of the owner, showing the designs and the concepts that have been ideally crafted.

Nachan the Antique Courtyard has been triangularly shaped by its designs and ideology. This unique foundation is built upon three pillars of slow living: embracing Nature, celebrating Culture, and nurturing the Future.

Our design principles

The moment you step into Nachan the Antique Courtyard, you’ll feel time begin to shift, gently aligning with the natural rhythm of the world. Every element has been thoughtfully crafted to reflect the true essence of Loei, where life moves slower and more meaningfully than in the fast-paced city. This is more than just a place to stay, it’s a sanctuary for healing, reflection, and rediscovering the beauty of unhurried time.

We anchored our architecture in traditional design, using carefully sourced reclaimed and reused old wood for all our posts, beams, and walls. The natural patinas and authentic markings of the reused wood reflect the passage of time, creating a unique texture that reduces visual monotony and minimizes disturbance to nature.

For non-wood surfaces (such as wet areas), we employed natural earthen plaster. This unique mixture uses local soil, fermented rice straw, and lime, a traditional formula known for its excellent thermal regulation. This natural structure ensures guests experience optimal comfort and a refreshing ambiance, offering a clear advantage over modern construction methods. The walls retain the organic, chemical-free colors and fine texture of the earth and straw, acting as an artistic canvas. By relying on local craftsmanship and wisdom, we ensure these valuable building traditions are preserved and passed on.

A thoughtful design for tranquility and refreshing ambience

Our layout is meticulously planned for peace and well-being. By placing the parking lot at the entrance, the journey to the hotel is an experience in itself: guests begin their slow, peaceful immersion either by strolling or taking a golf cart ride through the ambiance as they pass serene rice paddies, swaying bamboo groves, fragrant flower gardens, and lotus ponds. Extensive tree planting ensures pure, filtered air quality throughout the entire property.

The property utilizes an open, low-density layout, centered around expansive, uncluttered green lawns and flower gardens. This design philosophy emphasizes visual rest and relaxation, creating a spacious feeling that is complemented by the Mekong River running seamlessly alongside our infinity pool.

Inside the room, the design is deliberately high-ceilinged and open, with large windows maximizing your view of the natural surroundings. Interior decor highlights local features. The bathtub is placed by the window, inviting guests to relax and bathe under the moonlight.
